Nothing says it’s time to sit down and write something for this space quite like realizing you’re watching a television program that has a girl whose boyfriend’s name is Booger. And so, I will turn off “Big Rich Texas” to focus on today’s effort. OK, I’ll mute the show but keep the picture on the TV.
For those anticipating Playboy Playmate Jaime Edmondson’s NFL picks and pics, rest assured they will be here sometime Sunday (Oct. 21). Well, depending whether she posts them and when your humble correspondent gets around to incorporating them here. If you like, you can check out Jaime’s Twitter account at @jaimeedmondson. As of late afternoon, she had not posted anything other than this about an hour after the early games had started: Crap crap crap!!! Got to AZ late last night and thought I was 2hr behind east coast!!! Late on #picksinpics
Maybe she will pick the night game. Maybe she won’t. Picking Monday night’s Detroit Lions-Chicago Bears game would seem a more likely possibility.
Meanwhile, the NFL’s department of information remains busy and has provided the following information (it was either use this or try to be creative):
Through Week 6, quarterbacks have a league-wide passer rating of 86.3 and completion percentage of 61.9. Both numbers would surpass records set in 2011 (84.3 passer rating) and 2007 (61.2 completion percentage), respectively.
The league-wide yards-per-pass attempt average (7.27) is on pace to be the highest of any season in the Super Bowl era.
Seasons with the highest league-wide yard-per-pass attempt average in the Super Bowl era (since 1966):
2011: 7.20
1983: 7.18
1989: 7.15
1984: 7.14
2004: 7.05
* The league-wide kickoff-return average (24.7 yards) is on pace to be the highest of any season, eclipsing the record set last season (23.8).
* The New England have at least 350 total net yards in 15 consecutive games, the second-longest streak in NFL history. With a 350-yard (or more) game Sunday (Oct. 21) against the New York Jets, the Patriots would tie the St. Louis Rams (1999-2000) for the longest such streak in NFL annals (thank goodness for spellcheck). New England leads the NFL in total offense with 445.3 yards per game. The teams with the most consecutive games with 350+ total net yards in NFL history:
St. Louis Rams (1999-2000): 16
New England Patriots (2011-2012): 15 (active streak)
San Diego Chargers (1982-1983): 14
San Diego Chargers (1981-1982): 13
Indianapolis Colts (2008-2009): 13
* On Oct. 14 against the Houston Texans, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers became the first player in NFL history with at least six touchdown passes against an undefeated team (5-0 or better). Sunday against St. Louis, he can join Pro Football Hall of Famer Len Dawson as the only players in NFL history to throw at least four touchdown passes in a game afterg a six-touchdown pass game. Dawson followed a six-TD game against Denver on Nov. 1, 1964 with four TD tosses against Oakland.
* Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck is one of three rookies in NFL history with at least three 300-yard passing games. The rookie QBs with the most 300-yard passing games in NFL history:
4: Peyton Manning, Indianapolis, 1998
3: Andrew Luck, Indianapolis, 2012 (active streak)
3: Cam Newton, Carolina, 2011
2: Robert Griffin III, Washington, 2012 (active streak)
2: Brandon Weeden, Cleveland, 2012 (active streak)
* New England receiver Wes Welker has 16 career games with at least 10 receptions. He is tied with Marvin Harrison for the second most of any player in NFL history. Jerry Rice holds the record with 17. Tied for fourth on the list are Andre Johnson and Reggie Wayne at 15.
* Welker also can become the fourth player in NFL history with at least 10 receptions in three consecutive games. The players with at least 10 catches in three consecutive games in NFL history: Brett Perriman, Detroit (11/12/95-11/23/95), Reggie Wayne, Indianapolis (12/23/07-9/7/08), Andre Johnson, Houston (10/12/08-10/26/08)
Larissa Reis is 33-year-old Brazilian IFBB Professional figure competitor, nutrition consultant, personal trainer and fitness model. She finished sixth in the recent Arnold Classic Europe after a 10-place finish at the Olympia in Las Vegas. She also appeared in Playboy Brazil in 2003. The editorial staff at elliottharris.com thought running video and photos of her was the least we could do (think of it as another example to put in the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service portfolio — or whatever similar prizes might exist here in cyberspace):

Time for random video (well, it’s not really all that random if the video-research department around here spends countless hours scouring cyberspace for this stuff):
The Ohio State marching band at halftime of the Buckeyes’ game Saturday (Oct. 20) against Purdue:
OK, something a bit more gratuitous, for those who appreciate such things:
For those wanting visual verification of Jaime’s football forecast, here you go (OK, so it was Thursday’s game, but it’s better than nothing):
You have to admit it took great foresight to have Larissa ready as a substitute for those who come to this site merely for the fetching females featured on a daily basis. You have no idea how much planning went into that decision.
The editorial staff at elliottharris.com would like to assure you that it took much contemplation to make Larissa the focus of any early edition around here. The fact that she retweeted on Twitter regarding being part of today’s effort means there is an excellent chance you will be seeing more of Larissa on this site — not to mention elsewhere, now that you know whom to look for on various cyberspace outlets.
